Activator’s Annual Reference VHF Award 2025 |
|
Description |
This award is based on how many UKBOTA References an Activator has activated on VHF and above during the calendar year. The main change for 2025 is that the qualifying number of QSO has been reduced from 10 (in 2024) to 5 this year. |
Duration |
This award begins 1st January 2025 and finishes midnight 31st December 2025. All times in UTC/GMT. |
Scoring and additional notes |
For the purposes of this Awards VHF = any band above 6m inclusive, eg. 6m, 4m, 2m, 70cm, 23cm and so on. An Activator may activate the same bunker Reference once each calendar month on VHF. One point is scored for each valid activation. The maximum annual points that can be gained from activating the same bunker is therefore 12 per year, i.e. one per calendar month.
Valid activations: A minimum of 5 stations must be worked from the Reference to score a monthly point for that Reference, i.e. for the activation to be deemed valid. If 5 stations are not worked during an activation then repeat activations from the same UKBOTA Reference, within the same calendar month, may take place in order to gain the minimum 5 stations for the monthly point. An additional QSO is awarded for working the same hunter on any additional VHF bands during the monthly activation in order to get to the 5 minimum. There are no additional awards for working more than 5 Hunter stations from the same BOTA Reference in the same calendar month on VHF. However, activators are encouraged to continue to work Hunters if they are still being called, even if they have reached 5 QSO to validate the activation. Where an activator does not manage 5 valid VHF QSO from a bunker in one outing, duplicate VHF QSO from the same hunter, on the same band, but on a different day, will count towards the 5 valid VHF QSO for the activator – there are no additional points for the hunter. An Activator max mix VHF QSO with HF QSO in order to achieve the 25 QSO required to qualify the bunker for other awards. |
Tiers |
This award may be claimed in the following tiers, based on the following numbers of points gained (valid VHF activations) Bronze = 3 Silver = 5 Gold = 10 Platinum = 20 Ruby = 30 Sapphire = 40 Other tiers may be added at a later date |
